Knights with Good Showing in Rochester
The Knights ventured down to Rochester, MN this year for the annual holiday tournament. Varsity suffered a tough first round loss to New Richmond, WI by a score of 2-1. They would bounce back the following day with a 5-0 victory against Dodge County. In the final game and consolation championship the Knights faced a good Rochester Century team. The Knights received outstanding goal tending from Max Eilefson and timely goals from senior forward Dan Foley and Ryan Solz to put the Knights up 2-1. An empty net goal as well as a late Power Play goal would complete the victory for the Knights with the final score of 4-1. Meanwhile, the Knights JV team was busy claiming the tournament championship! With wins over Rochester Mayo, Century and John Marshall the JV team completed the Rochester sweep and claimed the championship trophy! Aside from the team victories their was a number of notable "firsts." Sophomores Joe Clark and Quinton Peterson notched their first Varsity goals over the weekend. Junior goaltender Chase Kaval had his first career Varsity start and shutout against Dodge County. Off the ice the players would experience their first Escape Room! Split into 4 teams the players had to solve puzzles, riddles, and work as a team to escape from a variety of situations in less than an hour. It was a fun an succesful trip for the team and the Knights look forward to starting the second half of the season against Champlin Park on Thursday 1/4/2018.
